As the official middle of the summer arrives in view, we’re already preparing Casita Verde for the hot season and getting as many manual jobs out of the way as possible before it becomes uncomfortable to work outside during the day.

This month, we’ll also see some changes in our permanent staff, as a few leave and a few different ones join. The movement of resident staff seems to be a constant feature of our now well established eco community and it is possibly one of the reasons it has survived for so long. New people bring new energy and new ideas, so as director I’m always open to see what the next part of the movie will bring and how this will further evolve the original idea – to make Casita Verde into a 100% independent eco centre!

We go on working with various volunteers on the new eco pond (this is a large project and will take some months to complete), plus the beautiful eco wagon, being designed and constructed by Dorus Rijkers. The eco wagon is also a long term project, but we really hope to get this showcase tiny home finished by the end of the summer.

Recently, we installed the solar energy system which will provide energy to the whole unit, plus some extra electrical power for other operations like welding, wood cutting and even charging electric cars. The eco wagon will also have some other interesting features such as underfloor solar heating, a rocket stove cooker for the winter months.

As the person in charge of doing our weekly tour of the whole site each Sunday, I’m also very interested to have this complete miniature version of Casita Verde ready to show off to our visitors. The Sunday tour now takes around three hours to complete, which although very interesting for those who want to know all the secrets of the Casita Verde five and a half hectare site, it’s a long trek under the hot afternoon sunshine in summertime and can be quite tiring for some visitors who are not so agile (myself included!).

The eco-wagon tour will be much shorter, but present all the same eco lifestyle features of the Casita Verde mother project in a much shorter time of course (around 40 minutes).

Anyone who wants to come and help with our two main projects this summer time are very welcome (Tuesday to Friday) and should get in touch with us by phone, email or facebook.

On Tuesday 29th of May, was the final presentation in the series of twelve Ibiza Fènix events held at the Business Space Ibiza in Vara del Rey 25, Ibiza. We’d like to thank everyone for coming along and also to thank our friends Manouche, Marcel and Jessica for hosting the weekly presentations we did since the beginning of March in their beautiful business centre.

During the whole summer season, from the beginning of June, until the end of October, we’ll be hosting a series of weekly networking meetings at our main centre Casita Verde, each Thursday evening from 19.00 until midnight, with a delicious vegan dinner and natural drinks served at around 9pm. Topics this month include –

* Thursday 14th June from 19.30 until 21.00h – Voluntary Virtual Nations Without Frontiers” through decentralized technologies such as Blockchain, crypto-currency, smart contracts, IPFS, Pantalassa. This presentation will be delivered by Manu Ruiz, representative from the ‘Bitnation’ project.

After this talk, from 21:00h until midnight, we’ll also be hosting a fundraising event for the recently opened Casita Verde Granada project, together with our by now popular DJ ‘Dr Cubano’, who is the director of the new centre and who plays a great selection of world music, including Cumbia, Electro-swing, Reggae and much more!

For more information about the new Casita Verde project in Granada, see their facebook page here:

We intend to make at least one fundraising event each month for the Casita Verde Granada project, so please check our facebook pages for details.

We’ll keep you updated about further presentations and events related to the Fénix movement, via our social media platforms.

Other Ibiza Fènix news:

We have now completed all the relative paperwork for the 12 new NGO’s and are presently busy opening all the bank accounts in the Caixa Colonya ethical bank in the Balearic islands.

Hopefully we’ll have everything completely finished for all the 13 different associations that form part of the Fènix movement and be ready for some exciting action by the end of June.

Meanwhile, if you would like to be up to date with the Ibiza Fènix news and join in both meetings, discussions and projects, please follow us on our facebook profile and become member of our facebook groups according to your area of interest.

On Saturday the 9th of June, Greenheart Ibiza and Ibiza Fènix will participate in the yearly celebration of the International Day of the Environment, from 18.00 until 22.00, in the village of Jesus near Ibiza town. This will be a very interesting show of eco groups, eco products and services, including electric vehicles, local food and drinks, plus a variety of entertainment for all the family, so please come along and join us there if you can.

Also, each Sunday in Casita Verde, we now have a plastic upcycling workshop for both children and parents, from 2pm until 15.30, with our lovely French friend Manue.

If you have any questions about alternative lifestyle techniques, or want to know how you can be a more eco-conscious citizen, please come and see us on Sundays, Thursdays in Casita Verde, or on Saturdays at the Local products market in Forada.

You can also get in touch by email, sending your request to, or calling our main office on 971 187353 / 608838190.

With warm greetings from Casita Verde,
