Finally, we arrive at the beautiful month of October, when things begin to slow down and everyone begins to relax into the autumn beat. Now that the stress seems to be leaving with the last of the summer tourists. And to add to this luxury, there are also still many exciting and interesting things to do on the island, so it’s time to enjoy making and attending some refreshing social and cultural activities, as well as arrange a few strategic encounters of course, before we get down to do some serious planning for the challenging road ahead.
At Casita Verde, we have many projects lined up for the winter season, both physically and mentally engaging, including repairs and new additions to our infrastructure, plus important meetings and celebrations designed to pave our way forwards in an enjoable way. For example, to finish our series of presentations for the ‘Ibiza Fènix’ project, we will present the final branch of activities, the ‘Responsible Tourism’ group, on Thursday the 12th of October from 7pm, with Lorena Gonzalez, the secretary of the new NGO.
On the 18th,19th and 20th of October, myself and Giada Forneris, plus another one of our active members, will fly down to Lanzarote, to participate in the Sustainable Tourism conference there (see https://www.biospheretourism.com/en). Here we hope to gather some useful information and contacts to bring back to Ibiza and discuss with the tourism authorities in the Ibiza council. Obviously, since the main industry of Ibiza is based on ‘Tourism’, it would be very advantageous to learn some new tricks which can be applied to the local situation here on the island and help to continue with a positive and responsible evolution of this important sector
of our economic present and future.
Speaking of evolution and economics, we have recently been offered the opportunity to join forces with the ‘Sokhrates’ team from Italy, who have invented a totally innovative way to gather funds for environmental and humanitarian causes worldwide. Last month, these lovely people made a special event here in Casita Verde, in order to explain to visitors how their system works and how we can all join in the fun of making our world a better place to live. I guess the best way to learn more about this very generous and welcome offer of help, is to look
at their social networking website on https://www.sokhrates.com/
Other positive things that have happened in the last few weeks include an invitation from WWF, to join in their ‘Sustainable Fishing’ initiative, which offers a fully accountable study and possibility to help the extremely critical situation of our oceans, by both understanding how they work and by deciding to become part of the solution in an intelligent and all inclusive way, bearing in mind that there are literally hundreds of millions of people in our world who survive because of a plentiful supply of fish. This is yet another great idea worth spreading and I feel
that we can really make sustainable fishing happen, especially if we all work on it together. You can see more information about this wonderful project on http://www.fishforward.eu/en/
Yet another great connection last month, has been the idea to co-create local projects to deal with the problem of plastics in the sea, together with some with serious players from various countries and representatives from local groups in the Balearic islands. Being an island community, we are obviously very exposed to receiving unwanted waste and pollution arriving on our shores, especially since we are surround by them. Ibiza, with its international fame, could well provide a the perfect laboratory for ideas on reducing global sea pollution, especially in the case of ocean plastics. This stuff seems to be getting everywhere nowadays. It’s in the seas and oceans, as well as clogging up our rivers. It’s also changing the landscape of our world, so that it looks more like a human garbage dump every day. Now it’s in our water supplies, it’s in the land we grow food on and it’s now well inside our human food chain, so finally we get to eat it too! This is another one of those serious problems we have to solve right now, just like our changing climate, our social and economic inequality and almost everything corporate in our lives. However, these positive changes to solve the serious problems will only come about, when we join our efforts and move closer together in our reality-dream of making a new world, while we still have time. (You can be sure that no-one in the future will forgive us, if we fail to at least do our best, now that so many of us know what we should do and how we would like to just do it!).
As the Ibiza Fènix flies onward and upwards, we can expect to receive many more golden opportunities to join forces with other like minded individuals and groups, inventing a new world vision that we will be proud to pass on to our children. Hopefully, those who can join us on Thursday the 25th of October, will find themselves surrounded by happy and positive people, coming along to share their inspirations and visions of a brighter and more appropriate future for us and our still beautiful planet Earth. This celebration, organised by Casita Verde / Ibiza Fènix, will begin at 2pm and run through until almost midnight. It will be full of demonstrations and workshops from different sections of the movement, including natural health remedies, local food tasting, intelligent conversations and lots of networking, plus a good assortment of entertainment to help us all enjoy the encounter… On this day, and together with the majority of those who are responsible for founding the
different groups, we will present all the branches of the Fènix tree, showing examples and explaining about each one. This event, will hopefully also serve as a practice run for a larger and more elaborate celebration in a more accessible venue, planned for next May.
The ‘Ibiza Ecolandia festival’, will present all the branches of the ‘Fènix’ organisation in one place and offer to the whole island, the possibility to come and find out what it is, participate in the action and become part of the movement. As we’ll be looking for extra hands to help with the event on the 26th of this month, if anyone would like to come along and help us out in any way, please let us know and we can begin our synergetic connection story. Here at Greenheart Ibiza, we firmly believe in getting people involved in the end result – from the beginning!

On a final note. I’d like to say a big thank you to all those members of our Casita Verde home team and our continuously evolving network of personal friends and followers, for their continued presence and support for this long but worthwhile journey into unchartered waters. The truth is that these kind of movements can work, and we should try to engage with them, in any way we can afford to, so that they can flourish and grow with our collective expectations. I guess it’s time to use that ’Magic of Synergy’ and see what happens when we really get connected!
Meanwhile, don’t forget, that if you have any questions about alternative lifestyle techniques, or want to know how you can be a more eco-conscious citizen, please come and see us on Sundays, or Thursdays at Casita Verde, or on Saturdays at the Local products market in Forada.
